On Saturday, August 27, the entire team at VA Premier Pawn traveled to the Eastern Shore to help co-host the Kalab Robinson Benefit Seafood Steam alongside local waterman, Scott Wivell. Robinson, who suffered major injuries in a recent accident that has left him hospitalized, is a local to the Shore, and the deckhand of Wivell. The 20-year-old is also a friend of VA Premier Pawn’s owner, Donald Rogers.

The event, held at the Shanty in Cape Charles, brought in hundreds of people from the community. All-you-can-eat steamed crabs, clams, oysters, shrimp, and corn were available, as well as a raw bar. All of the seafood was donated by local watermen and steamed by volunteer, Sands Gayle. Music was provided by Irie Tree Band and local musician, Johnny Mo. Attendees also enjoyed a silent auction, which featured over one-hundred items that were generously donated by local shops, artists, and business owners across the Eastern Shore.

The community came together to raise $45,000 to support Robinson’s medical expenses and rehabilitation.
