VA Premier Pawn hosted their inaugural Paws for a Cause event in partnership with the Portsmouth Humane Society on Saturday, April 30, in honor of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.

Customers were encouraged to come out to support the charitable cause by donating items from the Portsmouth Humane Society’s Wish List. Each donation counted towards entry into a cash giveaway. Raven, a very affectionate and friendly 3-year-old Pitt Bull was in attendance to meet with potential adopters. She is currently available for adoption.

Over $1,000 worth of items and monetary donations were collected at the event. Every donation went directly to the shelter. Many customers were also given foster and adoption information by shelter volunteer representative, Darlene.

You can help support the Portsmouth Humane Society by making a monetary donation through their website. You can also drop-in to their location and donate an item from their wishlist. The shelter is also in need of foster families, or you can help by adopting a shelter animal. Unfortunately, many of the areas shelters, including the Portsmouth Humane Society, are all at capacity, so the shelter needs foster families and those willing to adopt a new four-legged addition to their families now more than ever.
